Scram 440 Unveiled: Royal Enfield’s Powerful Update to the Scram Serie

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 is a significant evolution in the Scram lineup, offering a blend of robust design, upgraded performance, and modern features. It shares the same reliable half-duplex split cradle frame as the Himalayan 411 and Scram 411 but now houses a larger, more powerful engine. The 443cc single-cylinder air-and-oil-cooled engine is essentially a bored-out version of the 411cc unit. It produces 25.4PS of power at 6,250rpm and 34Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, which is an improvement of 1.1PS and 2Nm over its predecessor. This refined powertrain is paired with a new 6-speed gearbox, enhancing highway cruising and overall rideability compared to the 5-speed setup on the Scram 411.

In terms of design, the Scram 440 retains its rugged, adventure-ready look with a muscular fuel tank, slim tail section, and a distinctive silhouette. The addition of an all-new LED headlight not only improves visibility but also modernizes its aesthetics. The bike comes in funky, vibrant color schemes, making it stand out. Despite these updates, the core ergonomic dimensions remain unchanged, with a seat height of 795mm and a ground clearance of 200mm, ensuring comfort and accessibility for riders of various statures.

The suspension system comprises a 41mm telescopic fork with 190mm of travel at the front and a monoshock with 180mm travel at the rear, offering a balance of comfort and off-road capability. The braking system features a 300mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear, equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard and switchable ABS at the rear for off-road flexibility. The bike rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, emphasizing its off-road and adventure potential.

The Scram 440 has a dry weight of 187kg, a modest 2kg increase from its predecessor, and retains the same 15-liter fuel tank capacity, providing decent range for long rides. On the feature front, the bike introduces an all-new instrument cluster, shared with the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. This unit combines an analog speedometer with a digital inset displaying essential information like the odometer, trip meters, and fuel gauge. An optional Tripper navigation pod, which offers turn-by-turn navigation, is also available.
