Hero MotoCorp will be launching a brand-new motorcycle on February, 2024. The motorcycle is rumored to be called “Mavrick 440”, which will be based on the Harley-Davidson X440 that is currently on sale in India. The Mavrick is expected to be a more of a roadster than a cruiser like the current X440. This brand new motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp will mark its entry into the premium segment of motorcycles, which is currently dominated by Royal Enfield.

While the Harley Davidson X440 was co-developed and manufactured by Hero MotoCorp, the Mavrick X440 will be Hero Motocorps own offering, which can be expected to be priced more aggressively.

Hero MotoCorp is all set to unveil a new 440cc motorcycle based on the X440. In October of the previous year, it was reported that Hero MotoCorp had registered a new trademark for the name “Mavrick 440,” presumably linked to the Harley Davidson X440. While there have been no confirmed sightings of test prototypes for this motorcycle, it is anticipated that many of its features will be borrowed from the X440.

Drawing inspiration from the Harley-Davidson X440, the upcoming bike is anticipated to be a retro roadster, possibly named the Hero Mavrick 440. It is likely to feature the same 440cc air-/oil-cooled 2-valve single engine, producing 28PS and 38Nm. However, there might be some variations in the tuning.

We are expecting the Hero Mavrick 440 to be price at NRs 6 Lakh in Nepal. Powering the Hero Mavrick will be a 440cc engine, generating an estimated power of 27.37 PS and a torque of 38 Nm.

The Mavrick 440 roadster will be propelled by the same 440cc, 2-valve, air-oil-cooled single-cylinder engine. While this engine is tractable, relaxed, yet has the power for highway mile munching, it misses out a bit on the performance front.

During operation, the motorcycle emits a pleasing thump. The new engine is housed in a trellis frame, suspended by a 43mm upside-down fork (USD) at the front and gas-charged, preload-adjustable dual shocks at the rear. The Hero Mavrick 440 rides on 18-/17-inch alloy wheels (spoke rims in the base variant) fitted with new MRF Zapper Hyke tires – 100/80-18 (front) and 140/70-17 (rear).

Braking is effectively managed by a 320mm front disc with an axially-mounted ByBre caliper and a 240mm rear disc. Dual-channel ABS comes as a standard feature. With a kerb weight of 190.5kg, the motorcycle has a seat height of 805mm and a commendable 170mm of ground clearance. Hero Mavrick has a fuel tank capacity of 13.5 liters.

The Mavrick 440 is expected to get a comprehensive features list, which includes LED lighting, auto-headlight activation, digital display, Bluetooth connectivity, alloy wheels in the top variants, and more. Since the bikes are based on the same platform, the Mavrick  400 will feature a trellis frame like the X440. The bike will be suspended by a USD fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties, meanwhile, are taken care of by single-disc brakes at both ends with ABS.

As far as competition is concerned, the Mavrick 440 will go up against the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Benelli Imperiale 400, Triumph Speed 400, Jawa 42, and the Harley-Davidson X440. Will Mavrick be a game changer in the industry.
